Later 2013, Hello 2014

Not only do we reference Gepetto's workshop but you also get to hear both of us do our best electric saw impressions. Are you pressing play yet?

On the show we're sipping Pirate's Champagne (recipe below), talking about the best of 2013 and looking ahead to 2014. We also compare notes on beating the post-Christmas blues; Kelsey has the Crackling Fireplace on her TV and it's keeping her cozy (but not very warm).

In neighborhood news there's lots of sawing going on…do you guys have suggestions of what we should do about a noisy neighbor?

Speaking of current obsessions, Kelsey's obsessed with a recipe for Christmas Quiche and Erica's in love with her Kindle Paperwhite (thanks, Santa!).

Pirate's Champagne
adapted from A Fabulous Fete

1/4 oz honey
juice of half a lemon
1/2 oz of rum
Champagne or Prosecco

In a shaker filled with ice, mix the rum with the lemon juice and honey. Shake well and pour into a glass. Top with 4 – 5 ounces of Champagne or Prosecco and enjoy!

*A cautionary note: I tried to add the Prosecco to the cocktail shaker first, and then shake. Doesn't work. The fizz from the bubbly pushes the top of the shaker off and creates a big mess. Top with Champagne or Prosecco after the rest has already been shaken up and added to the glass. You're welcome.

  1. Congrats on your first podcast ladies! I wished I was able to sip a cocktail while listening along. I really liked the mix of topics covered. Any thought about breaking into segments? Or doing a long and short series. I could imagine listening to a longer podcast for weekend cooking but short ones would be fun to listen to on a shorter work commute or weeknight dinner prep. Can’t wait to see what you have up your sleeves for future podcasts!

  2. Thanks, Kristy! Maybe we’ll have to come up with a yummy no-booze cocktail. Interesting thought about the segments and the long/short podcasts. We will keep this in mind, it’s still very much developing. Thanks for the input!

  3. This is so fun! You two are adorable – and have great “radio” voices by the way. I feel like I’m in your living room hanging out 🙂 The podcast would be perfect commute fodder though too. Sometimes the news and music just won’t cut it. I sort of wished I had a longer drive now!

  4. Aw, shucks, thanks so much! Ive definitely been podcasting my way to work lately…I try to turn on NPR but within the first two minutes Im usually feeling depressed and so back to podcasts! Thanks for hanging out with us!
