2016 Goals Check In & Frose

Frose cocktail | The Girl Next Door Podcast

We kicked off the second half of the year with checking in on our goals for 2016 and with this frozen cocktail…

Frosé
from W&P Design and also inspired by @forageandfodder

1 bottle dry rosé wine (we used Acrobat rosé of pinot noir), frozen into ice cubes
3 oz fresh lemon juice
3 oz simple syrup
lemon twists
Campari

Blend frozen rose with lemon juice and simple syrup until just smooth. Pour into glasses and top each with a splash of Campari and a lemon twist. Summer of frosé!

Kelsey has made progress on her capsule skin care and makeup routine and especially loves Paula’s Choice Shine Stopper.
Kelsey is also recommending hiring a sleep coach, it’s been a huge help to her family. Erica is continuing to work toward her goal of more inner peace as the adoption process drags on.

In current obsessions, Erica loves Pioneer Quest on Amazon Prime and Kelsey’s getting through the hot summer with afternoon break at work with green tea-lemonade on ice.

Stuff we mentioned:
Erica’s wearing her summer scent Pretty as a Peach from Bath and Body Works and smells peachy clean.
Kelsey mentioned her love of the academic year and her academic year planner Get To Work Book

  1. Loved this episode! I love making goals and am always needing to remember to check in with myself on my progress. This episode was such a great reminder for me to do that. My takeaway from this episode is to empower my child more by letting him dress himself. I’ve been doing it because I’m faster (love to get things done quickly) but I know he is capable and I need to let him have more responsibility. I’m sure I’ll drop the ball on occasion but want to be more intentional. I’m glad Kelsey found a blazer and I’m looking to find one to wear to work once it cools off a bit. To Erica, I’m so glad that Bath and Body Works is bringing back their old scents. I’ll always have a love for the country apple scent.

  2. Pioneer Quest!!!! I just watched this last month, loved it!!!

  3. Kelsey, when do we get to see pictures of the capsule wardrobe??

  4. I’ll try to share a post before the year is up on my blog! I do have a planning post from a few months back: http://www.risingshining.com/capsule-wardrobe/ thanks for the request!

  5. Woo hoo, I need to get on board!

  6. Thank you so much! We love a good goals check in 🙂 Country Apple definitely takes me right back to middle high/school for me, scents are so powerful!

  7. Awww, loved the little ‘secret message’ for Erica at the very end of the podcast! I always love listening to those little outtakes.
And, Pioneer Quest! I actually live in Winnipeg (yes Erica, you got that right 🙂 ), and the show was recorded about half an hour from our house. I totally remember hearing about it when it was happening, but somehow never watched it. I’m going to have to look into this! Especially since when I was little I had always wished I lived in pioneer days (I was a big fan of the Little House on the Prairie series).
Loved the episode as always 🙂

  8. Oh how fun! You’re going to want to go try to live in the woods near your house now…or perhaps have an even deeper appreciation for modern convenience! I also used to love to pretend to live in pioneer times 🙂

  9. Kelsey, I picked up your habit of drinking Trader Joe’s green tea lemonade in the afternoon and I love it! Another insight from the Girl Next Door podcast . . . Thanks!!!

  10. Oh awesome!! It’s a summer habit I continue to enjoy. I’ll switch to the Trader Joe’s powdered chai tea or just hot tea in the winter. Cheers!
