  1. Loved the episode today. The Epilogue of the book was one of my favorite parts. It made me a little uneasy because it made me think of missed opportunities but it was interested to see the “what might have been” of people’s lives – I didn’t really see it as what was “meant to be” – more how our choices direct our lives. I was rooting for Tess & Connor myself even though in general I think you should try to save a marriage BUT just couldn’t stop being mad at Tess’s husband. I also like how they told the secret towards the middle of the book and we got to see Cecelia grapple with the decision of whether to share the secret or protect her family. Quite an interesting dilemma. I love how her books deal with some heavy topics but in a very approachable way. Love your book club episodes. Can’t wait for the next one.

  2. I agree with Lisa! I love that the author left plenty of time to explore that aftermath of the secret reveal. I was more on the edge of my seat after the reveal trying to figure out how they were all going to deal with it.
Your discussion was so interesting to listen to and I especially enjoy hearing quotes from the book that you really loved.
Looking forward to the next one 🙂

  3. Thanks Lisa! Thats a good point about the secret revealed in the middle of the book!

  5. I really enjoyed the book and this episode covering it.
A thought I had while reading – and I don’t have the book b/c I borrowed it from the library so going off of my sad-ass memory – I think it’s mentioned that Connor heard Polly calling his name but he chose to ignore her, and then the accident happens. This made me think it was kind of Connor’s karmic f-you to John-Paul for taking Janie from Connor. Had Connor responded to Polly’s calling, the accident probably wouldn’t have happened. Had John-Paul not “killed” Janie, she and Connor would have been together at least for a while.
