Big Changes & Return of Rollerblading Guy

This episode is all about big changes. We're talking about big changes on the horizon as well as our general approach to big changes we've navigated recently. Spoiler alert…

Erica's big change involves building a new house and moving in the next few months! (Don't worry, it's less than two miles from the current neighborhood and nothing will change about the podcast. Promise.) Erica shares some details about our decision and where we are in the process.

We think this calls for a cocktail so we're sipping on this unique twist on a classic…

Orange Coffee Moscow Mule (from A Beautiful Mess)

  • 1 can/bottle of ginger beer (approx. 8-9 oz. depending on brand)
  • 1 oz. vodka
  • 1 oz. coffee liqueur
  • 1/4 of an orange, squeezed
  • 1 cinnamon stick for garnish
  • ice

We chat more about how we decide it's time to make a change and how we keep our sanity during the transition phase of a big change.

In current obsessions Kelsey rediscovered her overnight oats and Erica is obsessed with looking at light fixtures for the new house.

In neighborhood news, Rollerblading Guy has returned, Erica realizes how awkward one looks running alongside a child learning to ride a bike. Also Erica finally has a successful neighbor interaction with someone other than Kelsey.

  1. Nooooooooo… (gasps) oooooo…

  2. I know, friend! But it will be OK! Now we’ll have twice the neighborhoods to report back on! Possibly twice the number of missing tortoises…?

  3. Hi ladies! My SIL sent me over to your Podcasts! How fun!! Loving it!
I too have been soaked in the light fixture debate lately, Erica!! Lighting adds so much to a space so I can’t wait to eliminate the builder-grade sparkly brass lighting. I am just finishing a foyer makeover and I have been obsessing over what lights to add to this space. It seems like every light I get excited about happens to be the priciest. I am a budget conscious gal but love great style so the struggle is real! LOL. Most of my lights come from a huge sale at Ballard Design but recently I have been browsing Joss & Main, Birch Lane and Wayfair and have been so impressed with the selection. I finally settled on some modern farmhouse pendants that can be hung as a flush mount from Wayfair. Can’t wait for their arrival and the price was amazing!
My foyer makeover will be up on my new blog soon so stop by some time.
Oh, and can’t wait to try this cocktail!

  4. Congrats on the new house Erica! That’s so exciting, and I’m glad to know that you’ll still be pretty close to each other.
Kelsey, would you mind sharing your overnight oats recipe? I’ve seen a ton of recipes on Pinterest but your peanut butter version sounds delicious! Thanks!

  5. Hi Jen! Welcome and thanks for the awesome lighting suggestions. The struggle is real, and cant wait to see what youre cooking up over there in your foyer

  6. Hi Shea, here’s the peanut butter overnight oats recipe I use. It’s simple but SO good and satisfying:
It’s also great with just a few chocolate chips 🙂

  7. Thanks so much Kelsey, I will definitely be making this… for sure with the chocolate chips too 🙂
