Meet Your Hosts

Erica and Kelsey lived next door to each other for eight years and during that time discovered they love to talk and laugh together, both have a passion to connect with others, and even share a birthday (December 22, thanks for asking!). These two friends, who still live just five minutes from each other in Gilbert, Arizona, have yet to find a topic yet they don’t want to talk, and most likely laugh about, together. Join in on their honest, funny, and encouraging conversations that feel like you’re hanging out with girl friends.

Kelsey’s future as a podcaster started in her teens, listening to episodes of This American Life on NPR, way back before podcasts existed. Through The Girl Next Door Podcast and on her RISING*SHINING blog and podcast, Kelsey creates content that is personal, relatable, and encouraging. Kelsey worked for 10 years as an environmental scientist and university science writer before turning a new page to focus on podcasting and writing. Kelsey lives with her husband and three kiddos, and while she never imagined herself living in Arizona she’s found a lot to love about the desert.

Erica is a former elementary teacher turned writer, podcaster, and homeschool mom. She’s always had the gift of gab, and The Girl Next Door Podcast is her favorite place to do that. She’s also the author of Candid Classroom: What Parents Want to Know and Teachers Want to Tell Them and the host of Homeschoolhood, a podcast for parents and teachers based on her experiences as an educator. She creates honest lifestyle, parenting, and education content always served with a side of laughter. Erica is a Midwest transplant now living in the desert of Arizona with her one husband, two daughters, and three pups.
